Apply for your Postal Vote

Anyone on the electoral register can now vote by post.

Automatic postal voting. You can arrange to have a postal vote for a set period like a year or until further notice. You will automatically be sent a postal vote for any election during that period unless you have restricted the elections at which you wish to vote by post.

One-off postal voting. When there's a general election, you will be able to get application forms in the national press as well as from you local council. If you want to make a one-off arrangement to vote by post, you will need to get your application form to the Electoral Registration Office at least six working days before the election. We understand that the period of notice for receiving a postal vote at a Scottish Parliament election remains unchanged and is two weeks.

Please note that you need to get your form into your local council at least six working days before a general election.
